poetry: Flood

He watched the clouds gather;

wept, when the rains descended.

Everywhere he looked that day,

fountains sprung from the earth.

The Ark had been completed;

the Maker closed the door.

Looking outside through the skylight –

tomorrow’s promise, like a dove.
