I remember Sinai,
standing at the base of the mountain,
awestruck by the thunder and lightning,
feeling as if nothing was certain.

Even if only in my dreams,
these centuries old collective memories
collide with flowing streams
of consciousness from yesterdays.

Alas, tis all too true,
that today is but a shadow,
an echo from the blue
seas of Torah.

  1. I delight in the concept of generational memory, of ancestral echoes pulsing through time and reaching us here in the present. I also appreciate the brevity of this piece – you truly brought it down to its core, and I find this poem all the stronger because it says what it intends and leaves you alone with the resultant thoughts.
