Jacob’s Ladder

When the heart exults,

let no song be unsung,

climbing Jacob’s ladder,

resting upon each rung.

~~~~~
The soul will rejoice,
although the vision may tarry,
resting upon each rung,
climbing Jacob’s ladder.
~~~~~

The moon reflects,

the solace of everyone,

climbing Jacob’s ladder,

resting upon each rung.

~~~~~
The body grounds itself,
chesed v’emes marry,*
resting upon each rung,
climbing Jacob’s ladder.
*Psalm 85:10
The Climb
A treasured moment to be with you,
a beatific glimpse of chayei olam,
seeking wisdom, abiding in truth,
climbing the ladder to Shomayim.
~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~

Prayer from the heart, sublime in word,

distractions set aside, a time to soothe,

climbing the ladder to Shomayim,

seeking wisdom, abiding in truth.

~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~
The neshamah is in tranquil repose,
hoping to find that eternal song,
seeking wisdom, abiding in truth,
climbing the ladder to Shomayim.
~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~

Peace, sought by way of  yichud,

a oneness that makes life smooth,

climbing the ladder to Shomayim,

seeking wisdom, abiding in truth.

Ancient History Revival

Civilizations fall, others rise in their place.

We have not always inhabited the same space,

as our ancestors did, over the centuries;

thus, we do not always share the same memories.

~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~
How can this be, that across the generations,
so much is lost to the plans of nations –
rearranging, reshaping the maps of destiny,
driving our ancestors abroad to other countries?
~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~

Fall back to the ways of prior days in the shtetl;

there is nothing lost, and only everything to be gained.

Return to the days of yore, when our forefathers saw,

ahead of time, the desolate nature of our souls,

and the promise of renewal from Above.

Depth of Spirit

My heart pitters and patters,

while the glitter of the world subsides;

my desires shift to the transcendent,

as past and present collide.

The fireworks of yesteryear,

only a gleam in my mind’s eye;

the essential truths of my life sear

my conscience, and memory.

Called, to transcend the mundane,

wayward paths of my youth;

to let go of all done in vain,

while forging ahead in truth.

A smile brings comfort,

to every soul that yearns,

for the depth of spirit,

that like a flame will burn.

poetry: Sublime

Do not eschew wisdom;
nor, turn your heart away from Me.
I am the L-RD your G-d, Who
brought you out of bondage.

Rest in the refuge that G-d provides,
when we turn our heart towards Him.
If we search elsewhere, we will falter;
yet, He will guide us Home.

Everything that is done
under the sun of healing,
shall be revealed as one,
within the tapestry of life.

Opposites collide with each other,
when we choose to live in fear.
Yet, tiferes combines all things,
that would otherwise appear disparate.

Adoshem echad, u’shmo echad.
The L-rd is one, above in Binah;
His name is one, within Malchus.
His radiance permeates everything.

poem: Horizon

I’ve grown lazy,
as my dreams clash with reality.
I have become disconnected from the actual,
because I focus on what would be ideal.

I sit behind my screen, peering into the world.
Trying to gain some kind of perspective,
that will shed light on current events.

Every time that I close down the screen,
the world vanishes along with the pixels,
that make up words and images.

On the morrow, they will reappear,
reconfigured in new patterns,
as changeable as the currents

of life that pulse through
a pastiche of reality
that never captures the essence,

falls short of the mark every time,
because of divisiveness, bias,
and myopic visions.

Like the parable about the elephant,
each person only able to describe
a singular part of the whole.

Yet, hope is on the horizon,
when the lies subside
and the truth prevails.

The long awaited Kingdom,
wherein the lion and the lamb
live in peace with all of mankind.

To this, I look forward,
when all else is in disarray,
when mountains crumble,

I know that what remains
will be here to stay.

poem: Beyond Stasis

If we are bidden to sit still,
quietly awaiting for this to pass,
then we acknowledge His will,
and demonstrate acceptance.

Yet, if we envision our near future,
as no different than our recent past,
then we have missed the point, and,
have not taken the opportunity to change.

In the chaos around us,
there must be a still point,
a central focus for our lives,
amidst these challenges.

From that point, hope is born,
fear subsides, anxieties flee,
calm permeates the air we breathe;
the expectation of a new day
will help us to endure.

poem: Solace 2

Like a unicorn in captivity,
I must settle down to this way
of existence for a moment.

No longer free to roam,
outside of my own domain,
nor, wander about in this world.

Explore the confines of silence,
rest in G-d’s protective shadow,
accept my limitations.

In the Garden of Eden,
the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge
was explicitly forbidden.

Now,
while sheltering in G-d’s Presence,
I can make recompense
for my transgressions.

And, be content, here,
as Dovid HaMelech was,
like a weaned child.
